Koiva Village School, Pejeh Chiefdom, Pujehun
School construction is not usually our main work focus, but we have secured the funding to rebuild the primary school in Koiva, ensuring a quality environment and education facilities for the 210 pupils and 6 teachers. The existing school building is in a very poor condition, and as it is now in danger of collapse, the children currently have all their lessons outside. This means that school is cancelled, when it is raining.
This project has been part-funded by the pupils, staff and parents of Walberton and Binsted Primary School, West Sussex, UK. Walberton is twinned with Koiva school, and through their fantastic fundraising efforts, the children have raised enough to drill and install a new well, a kitchen extension for meals for the children, and tools and seeds for a market garden.
The new building will be modelled on a three classroom primary school we have previously built in Gbongay village. Once the school is completed, this will greatly improve the educational prospects for the children of the village and help to secure a more sustainable future for the whole community.
