Gbongay Primary School Ecosan Toilet and Well, Pejeh Chiefdom, Pujehun
Gbongay primary school was rebuilt in 2008, but the children and staff had to walk into the village to use the toilets and fetch water. We secured funding to build an ecosan toilet including an integral washing area, with separate sections for boys and girls, and a new well and pump for the school. This will greatly improve the health of the children, having ready access to effective sanitation and clean water. A small garden is also being established next to the ecosan, to take advantage of the compost produced, which will provide a valuable nutritional supplement for school meals.
